HABIB MOHAMMED CHOWDHURY
From 1992 to 1999, Mr. Habib Mohammed Chowdhury successfully managed his own company in the highly competitive international business environment of Dubai, trading in Agarwood and Agarwood Essential Oils. Sensing better opportunities, Mr. Habib moved to Lao People’s Democratic Republic, where he established the HSMM GROUP of COMPANIES.
The HSMM Group of Companies is deeply rooted in Lao society; we are firmly committed to contributing to the wellbeing of the local communities through our various corporate social responsibility programs. This year marks our anniversary; it will be another milestone in our more than two decades of existence in the country. We have a rich history in Lao PDR, and we have so much to look forward to in the coming years.
We started operations in Lao P.D.R 22 years ago, riding on the crest of a vibrant economy that grew around eight percent annually. We are proud to be part of that remarkable growth. HSMM is the 2nd biggest Indian Foreign Direct Investment group of companies in Lao PDR.

With 20+ years’ worth of experience in trading Agarwood and Agarwood Essential Oil, in the very competitive markets of Middle East, Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea and Singapore, he is the Vice Chairman of HSMM Group of Companies and the Managing Director of Lao Agar International Development Company Limited (L.A.I.D.)
Since 2006, the agarwood businesses of HSMM GROUP have seen tremendous growth. He initiated a plantation campaign on behalf of L.A.I.D. called “Giving Back to The Nature” wherein it planted 450,000 trees till date, with the goal of reaching 1,000,000 trees in Lao PDR.
Mr. Sadik’s ambition of making L.A.I.D one of the biggest Agarwood trading companies within South-East Asia has been a focal point for the company’s achievements. He is a visionary and with his boundless work ethic and dedication, HSMM GROUP will achieve much more in days to come.
